Team of Skaters Finds Issue With 'Sparkly Item'

The Lake Minnetonka Figure Skating Club reports results from last weekend's synchronized skating competition.

by Shawne Thiry

I wish I had great news to share regarding the results of our synchronized skating teams at the Midwest & Pacific Coast Synchronized Skating Sectionals last weened but unfortunately I don't. Our Intermediate team skaters experienced a fall due to a costume decoration that had fallen on the ice from a previous team's costume.

Apparently the "sparkly item" on the ice was brought to someone's attention, but it wasn't investigated. Our girls took to the ice, began their performance and a skater hit it and the falls occurred. Unfortunately, one skater returned to Minnesota with crutches.

Our Juvenile team skated well, but the competition was tough and unfortunately, like several teams, became victim of a four-way tie. Not only was there one four-way tie, but there was also another multi-team tie so the results were a mess. Needless to say, we weren't anywhere near the top four teams.

Here's the good news: Open Juvenile and Pre-Juvenile teams placed second out of four, and our Beginner 2 team placed first out of three teams.

All-in-all, our synchronized skaters can hold their heads high as they gave their all in their performances, they represented our club in a professional manner and were also complimented on their friendly nature.
