State Hockey: Minnetonka Moves To Semifinals

The girls won their quarterfinal AA State tournament game against Eagan on Thursday night.

Both the girls and boys Minnetonka High School hockey teams are moving on up.

Defending their 2011 Class AA State Hockey title, the top-seeded girls hockey team beat Eagan 4-1 in the state tournament quarterfinals Thursday.

The battle began for the girls at 6 p.m. on the ice of the Xcel Energy Center. Click here for the tournament bracket.

Minnetonka will play Lakeville North (who beat Roseau, 5-0) at 8 p.m. Friday in the semifinal game.

Tickets for Friday's game can be purchased at the between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Friday or at the Xcel Energy Center box office. Adult tickets are $17 and student tickets are $11. A student fan bus will be available each round for an additional $5 per student (minimum of 30 students needed). The fan bus will depart from Pagel Activity Center on Friday at 6 p.m.

Roseville is the No. 2 seed and beat Grand Rapids/Greenway on Thursday at 11 a.m. No. 3 Edina beat Mounds View in the second game of the day. Roseville and Edina will face off Friday at 6 p.m.

The championship game is Saturday at 7 p.m.

Sharing in the Thursday night celebration were the Minnetonka boys, who shut out Minneapolis, 12-0. Their next game is Saturday, in the Section 6AA semifinals.
