State Champs: Minnetonka Girls Alpine Ski Team

After losing to them in the sections tournament, Minnetonka beat Blake 172 points to 155 points.

The Minnetonka High School girls Alpine ski team won the state meet on Feb. 13 at Giants Ridge.

The team was the state champion in 2011, finished state runner-up in 2012, and entered state this year as the Section 6AA runner-up (losing to Blake by one point in sectionals). At state, Minnetonka beat Blake 172 points to 155 points.

Megan Greiner was the top Minnetonka finisher, taking fifth place. Anna Ewald finished 13th, Madison Gartner finished 17th and Marlee Gartner finished in 20th place.

The boys Alpine ski team, the defending state champions, finished third in the section 6AA meet on Feb. 7 at Afton Alps so they didn't move onto state.

Ducan Hurrelbrink (12) and John Landa (11) qualified for the individual state meet. Landa finished in 26th place and Hurrelbrink in 28th at state.
