Registration Open for Tour de Tonka

Participation for the bike tour will be capped at 3,000.

Tour de Tonka, an annual Minnetonka Community Education multi-distanced bicycle ride through Lake Minnetonka communities, takes place on Saturday, Aug. 6 beginning at 7:15 a.m.

Cyclists of all ages can choose between the 100-mile, 70-mile, 40-mile, 23-mile and 17-mile rides. is not a race.

Because the number of cyclists is limited, early registration is encouraged. There were 2,425 participants in 2010.

Packet pick-up starts at 5:45 a.m. on Aug. 6 at , or avoid the crowds and take advantage of pre-ride packet pick-up on Friday, Aug. 5 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Cyclists can also register onsite at the high school during pre-ride packet pick-up on Aug. 5 and Aug. 6. The ride begins and ends at Minnetonka High School.

Parking will be available at Minnetonka High School on the morning of the ride, however, parking spaces are limited to the first 920 vehicles. Additional parking spaces will be available at the District Service Center and Clear Springs Elementary School located just south of the high school on County Road 101.

Helmets during the ride are mandatory. Rest stops along the routes provide refreshments and music.

7:30 a.m. 100-Mile Ride begins

7:35-7:37 a.m. 70-Mile Ride begins

7:42-7:44 a.m. 2 Minute stagger

7:44 a.m. 40-Mile Ride begins

7:50-7:51 a.m. 1 Minute stagger

7:51 a.m. 23-Mile Ride begins

7:57-7:58 a.m. 1 Minute stagger

7:58 a.m. 17-Mile Ride begins

8:04 a.m. All riders should be fully released

Boys and girls, ages 4-7, can ride in their very own Tour de Tonka on Monday, Aug. 1. The Smile Ride begins at 6:30 p.m. Same day registration starts at 5 p.m.
 
This year riders may choose the 2-mile or 4-mile route.
