Minnetonka Students Donate 800 Books

The books were delivered to Read Indeed, a nonprofit with the goal of making the world a better place—one book at a time.

Local elementary students collected 830 books for other kids.

To celebrate February as “I Love to Read Month,” students at hosted their third annual book drive. The books which will be donated to Read Indeed in Hopkins.

Deephaven Media Specialist Kelli Whiteside helped organize the book drive, while fourth and fifth grade students in the student leadership group assisted with the packaging and loading of the books.

Read Indeed is a nonprofit literacy organization and the vision of Maria Keller, a book-loving fifth grader who wants to make the world a better place—one book at a time.

Maria's hope is to collect and distribute one million books to needy kids by the time she's 18. She began collecting books when she was 8 years old and has touched the lives of thousands of children around the world. Read Indeed's website book counter announces that, so far, 600,139 books have been collected and distributed.
