Want a Valentine's Day Wedding? Hennepin 4th District Judges Will Do It Free

The services are being conducted to acknowledge people dedicated to public safety, but if time and space permit, county "civilian" couples will be married as well.

The following was released by Hennepin County:

The Hennepin County Board of Commissioners approved a resolution allowing Hennepin County 4th Judicial District Court judges to conduct free marriage ceremonies on Valentine’s Day on the Hennepin County Government Center Public Service Level

The services are being conducted to acknowledge people dedicated to public safety. Priority will be given to military (active duty, reserve, National Guard and veterans) and first responder (police, fire, EMT, sheriff’s deputies) couples. If time and space permit, county “civilian” couples as well. 

The event is being done in collaboration with the county Taxpayer Services Department, which oversees the six county service centers (where couples can apply for marriage licenses); and county Veterans’ Services. 

Weddings will be performed from noon to 1 p.m. on Valentine’s Day, Thursday, Feb. 14. The services are free, but there is a service charge for processing marriage licenses. Pre-registration is required. Prospective celebrants can obtain more information and register online at www.mncourts.gov/hennepin
