The county has tentatively scheduled repair work to begin in early August, and anticipates the repair work will last up to two months. The county has indicated this section of roadway will be closed during the construction. The county has sent notification to residents along Gleason Lake Road, along with a map of the section to be closed detour routes.
County Road 73 (Hopkins Crossroad)/Hillside Lane Turn Lane Improvements
Hennepin County has begun work to install a left turn lane on southbound Hopkins Crossroad at Hillside Lane. This intersection has a history of rear-end accidents due to the number of vehicles which make a left from Hopkins Crossroad to Hillside Lane. The new left turn lane will allow vehicles making the turn to move out of the flow of traffic, and will minimize the potential for accidents. County crews have begun preparatory work at the intersection. The county has tentatively scheduled milling, paving and restriping to be completed the week of July 30. Hopkins Crossroad will remain open during construction, but will be reduced to one lane and flagged at times.
