As a member of the Minnesota Senate David served on the Commerce, Capital Investment and K12 Finance Committees. He was a strong proponent of education reform, and consistently voted against tax increases and excessive spending. As Governor Pawlenty’s chief of staff, David negotiated legislation among the DFL led Senate, the Republican led House, and the Governor. He was instrumental in naming district and Supreme Court Justices, and worked closely with the Attorney General, Secretary of State, State Auditor and cabinet members on the operations of the State. There was no special session during David’s tenure as Chief of Staff and the biennium ended with a budget surplus.

David and Susan have been married for 19 years, and have children Ben, Alexis & Nick. 

David has thirty years business management experience, including the development and leadership of start up and early operating stage companies.
