Minnetonka Woman Charged with Using Rifle to Threaten UPS Driver
Sandra Gerrish Jarrett was upset that her package was late.
A Minnetonka woman who investigators allege threatened a UPS driver with a rifle has now been charged with a felony.
Sandra Gerrish Jarrett, 61, was charged in Hennepin County on Oct. 7 with making terroristic threats. Her bail was set at $30,000.
On Oct. 3, police responded to a call on 11667 Lone Lake Ridge in Minnetonka after a UPS driver reported he had been threatened by a woman with a gun. The driver told police he had left a package on Jarrett’s front steps and then rang the door bell before retuning to his vehicle.
According to the driver, Jarrett yelled for him to return and demanded that a UPS supervisor be present when she opened the package. She was angry, the driver said, that the package hadn't been delivered on time. The driver called a UPS office and was told that a supervisor wouldn't be coming and that he should leave.
The driver told police that he looked over at Jarrett and noticed she was holding a rifle, that she raised it up and told him he was staying there until a supervisor showed up.
If convicted, Jarrett faces up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
