30-Year-Old Man Flees Minnetonka Police Because He Was Scared

Tyler Maruska initially pulled over when stopped by police, but then he took off at speeds of 75 mph.

A 30-year-old Waconia man has been charged with fleeing Minnetonka Police in his car. 

Tyler George Maruska has been charged in court with felony fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle.

On March 24, an officer was on patrol in the area of County Road 101 and Bridgewater Road in Minnetonka. When he spotted a car traveling at 53 miles per hour in a 40 mile per hour zone, he activiated his emergency lights to stop the car.

Police say Maruska initially pulled over to the right shoulder. The officer says he then saw Maruska look in the rearview mirror, and before the officer exited the squad car, took off from the side of the road.

The officer followed Maruska, who drove at speeds of about 75 mph, according to police. Maruska also allegedly ran a red light before stopping at a Holiday gas station. He was arrested and allegedly told police he fled because he was scared.
