TONIGHT: Fiesta del Otoño

Located at Minnetonka High School, located in the West Gym, Cafeteria, and Student Commons


The Fiesta del Otoño gives local teachers and community volunteers the opportunity to showcase various Spanish traditions with live entertainment, music, food, crafts, and activities for the entire family. Admission is free.


Food vendors including Aurelia’s of Eden Prairie will be selling authentic Mexican food on-site. The featured entertainment this year is Xibaba, a Brazilian Jazz band, and Kalpulli Ketzal Coatlicue Aztec Dance Troupe.

Xibaba’s lead band members, Mira and Tom Kehoe have a wide-range of performing arts experience. In addition to their musical performances, Mira and Tom are recording artists.  Mira works with local theaters such as the Children’s Theater, the Guthrie Theater, and Theater de la Jeune Lune as a voice and acting coach and has consulted as an acting coach; working on films, such as “Mighty Ducks“ and ”The Parent Trap.” 


The Kalpulli Ketzal Coatlicue Aztec Dance Troupe dress in full ornate traditional Aztec costumes and recreate the native Mayan dances of the past. They focus on the symbols of life represented in Mayan tradition and mix in contemporary dance moves. Drums, conch shells and other items from nature are used to connect the themes in their music.

The evening will end with a traditional sing-along at 7:30 p.m. This event is student-centered. All Minnetonka residents and surrounding communities are encouraged to attend.
