Ike's Food & Cocktails Opens Sept. 18 in Minnetonka

The original plan was for Ike's Food & Cocktails to open in spring, but there were some delays in order to achieve perfection.

If you're hungry for a good steak, the wait is over. Ike's Food & Cocktails in Minnetonka will open Tuesday, Sept. 18.

Ike's Food & Cocktails, a popular downtown Minneapolis restaurant with a location at the airport, is a new addition to Minnetonka's restaurant scene. Owner Carl “Chip” Isaacson and crew are busy with final details at the restaurant site (formerly Prima) at County Road 101 and Highway 7. Ike's is a short jaunt down the road from .

Prima, an Italian restaurant, closed in February 2010. Before that, the space housed Big Buck Roadhouse.

On opening day, Ike's will begn serving lunch at 11 a.m. and most likely close at 10 p.m. Ike's has a 1 a.m. liquor license.

"We're just going to open it up to the neighbors and have fun," said Meghan Nimmer, a manager at Ike's.

Ike's is known for their burgers, ribs and steaks. They will offer rotating specials, but Nimmer had no specific deals to reveal for the first day.

"It's like a supper club, something that you'd find post-World War II," said Nimmer, of the Ike's experience.

The original plan was for Ike's Food & Cocktails to open in spring, but Nimmer said there were some delays in order to achieve perfection.

"You don't want to open the doors and not have everything exactly how you want it," she said.
