Self-Care and Weight Stigma

Self-care and weight stigma deserve our conscious attention according to Becky Henry of Hope Network, LLC.

Hi all, this will eventually be two separate posts but for now both things are of equal and related importance. What do these two things have in common? In my humble opinion we all need to be conscious of both. And I'm passionate about both.

SELF CARE

Last week I went on a retreat called: Deep, Rich and BOLD put on by Thea Sheldon for women who are up to big things. I laid down some pain I'd been holding onto and learned how that was getting in my way.  WAS.  No longer is. It was as if I was putting a closed door in front of me at all times. The door is gone, I've run out and am still educating about eating disorders only now it's easy, joyful and fun. My oxygen mask is in place.

As if that wasn't enough, I was also determining if indeed Thea was the person to organize the parent retreats I've only dreamed of for those who are caregivers of people with eating disorders. She is. And we're getting them rolling. Please watch for details.  If you are a caregiver of someone with an eating disorder or your treatment center is interested in having the loved ones of your patients participate, please call me.

Next Week is WEIGHT STIGMA AWARENESS WEEK

I'll be sharing more next week.  For now I'm sharing Carmen Cool's wonderful article, Confronting Weight Bias!  Would love to hear your experiences of #WeightStigma.

Is your oxygen mask firmly in place? If not and you want help - call me and we'll get it there.
