Turkey Talk: Where Have You Seen Them in Minnetonka?

Have you enjoyed seeing wild turkeys in town or have they caused a problem for you? Tell us.

Minnetonka’s abundance of open space and natural areas attracts its share of wildlife, from birds and frogs to coyotes and deer and wild turkeys, according to the city of Minnetonka.

The number of wild turkeys in the city seems to rise and fall throughout the year. Much of this is due to new hatchings, predators and the migration of the birds. According to DeeAnn Bloom, Minnetonka Police Department community service officer, wild turkeys are the most difficult to discourage from visiting your property. Check here for tips on controling the birds. The biggest tip? Don't feed them. And remember you can't trap them or shoot them.

The wild turkeys seen here enjoy hanging out at the We Can Ride barn in Minnetonka on Highway 62. They walk around leisurely in the yard and in the paddocks with the horses. They don't seem to be afraid of anyone or anything.
