Architectural Home Tour Takes Place This Weekend

The sixth annual American Institute of Architects Minnesota Homes by Architects Tour will take place from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Minnetonka has home No. 5 on the tour. The home—located at 13733 Spring Lake Road and designed by Rehkamp Larson Architects—overlooks a scenic marsh and has a musical teaching and performing space, loads of natural sunlight and a kitchen with a custom wood-burning pizza oven.

Tickets for the complete tour cost $15 for adults and $10 for students between the ages of 5 and 18 if purchased online before 4 p.m. Friday. They cost $20 for adults and $10 for students if purchased on site.

Admission to a single home is $10 and available at any of the 23 homes.

Play Golf, Help Charity

Minnetonka Rotary will be hosting a “Birdies and Beers” charity golf outing Saturday at Glen Lake Golf Course.

Registration starts at 1 p.m. There will be a shotgun start at 2 p.m. Golfing runs until 5 p.m. A beer Tasting, food, raffles and silent auction go through 8 p.m.

The event includes nine holes of golf with prizes for putting and a driving contest. There will also be a $10,000 prize for a hole in one.

Excelsior Brewing, Surly Brewing, Rock Bottom Brewery, Lucid Brewing and Town Hall Brewery will provide beer samples. Tuttle’s Eat Bowl Play will have two different types of sandwiches and delicious salads. Raffles will include trips to Hawaii, Arizona, and the Bahamas—as well as a 40-inch Sony TV, an iPod and a wheelbarrow overflowing with assorted beers and wines.

Tickets cost $70 for the complete package, $50 for everything but the golf and $15 for just the food and silent auction.

Alumni Awards to Honor Vikings Star, Director, Researcher and More

The Minnetonka Alumni Association will honor five alumni and two teachers Saturday at the Fifth Annual Minnetonka Alumni Awards.

The awards banquet takes place from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Minnetonka High School. Tickets cost $15 and are available for purchase here.
