Minnetonka's YoYo Donuts Competes on Cooking Channel

In April, Minnetonka's YoYo Donuts announced that their baker Stormy (with his assistant Chris) won the grand prize of $10,000 from the April 30 episode of Food Network Canada's hit show, 'Donut Showdown.'

Now 'Donut Showdown' is coming to the U.S. this summer on Cooking Channel, so local YoYo fans can witness the excitement.

Watch for YoYo Donuts to compete in the "Tailgating" episode. The series premieres in the U.S. on July 3, but YoYo Donuts staff is not sure whether one or two episodes will air each week. They promise that if they hear of a definitive air date, they'll be sure to let us know on Facebook.

In the episode "Tailgating," donut-makers Stormy from YoYo Donuts in Minnetonka, Steve from Portland, and donut tricyclist Lindsay from North Carolina compete in a mystery ingredient elimination round. The final two standing have to impress the judges by making three donuts with a  “Tailgate Party” theme. The winner takes home $10,000.

If you're on Comcast, tune in to channel 122/711; DirecTV channel 232; DishNetwork channel 113.

The show is hosted by British chef Danny Boome, of 'Rescue Chef.' During the season, 42 donut pros from all over North America vie for the prize in 13 episodes.

YoYo Donuts is family-owned and independent. The shop located at 5757 Sanibel Drive in Minnetonka is their only location.
