Minnetonka Resident Named Lacrosse Player of the Year

Lydia Sutton will also player with the Canadian team at this year's World Cup.

Minnesota lacrosse coaches have named Minnetonka’s Lydia Sutton as the 2013 lacrosse player of the year, the Star Tribune reported Monday.

Sutton is a junior at the Blake School, where she scored 48 goals this season and was a member of the past three championship teams. She was also born in Oakville, Ontario, and will play in the World Cup in July for the Canadian team.

According to her biography on the Canadian team’s website:

At 17 years of age, she may not have the experience of some of her Team Canada teammates, but she has a fresh, youthful, no-nonsense attitude, and is well prepared for what lies ahead.
