Governor Dayton appoints Trails of Orono’s Cheryl Klinkhammer to Minnesota Board on Aging

Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton has appointed Cheryl Klinkhammer, executive director of senior housing development Trails of Orono, to the State of Minnesota Board on Aging (MBA).  The MBA, whose members are appointed by the governor, is the gateway to services for Minnesota seniors and their families.

First established in 1956, the MBA is one of the pioneers in the field of aging policy, information and assistance.  It works closely with its Area Agencies on Aging, which are located throughout the state, to provide services that seniors need.

For more than 26 years, Klinkhammer has held leadership roles in the senior and social services industry.  Since 2011, she has overseen Trails of Orono, a senior housing development that offers 19 memory care apartments and 43 assisted living apartments.

Klinkhammer earned her B.S. degree in Social Work from St. Cloud State University and also holds a certificate in Dementia Care from the Aging Services of Minnesota/Alzheimer’s Association.  She has served on the Wright County Emergency Preparedness task force, Buffalo Health Fair task force, Wright County Public Health task force and board of the Buffalo Chapter of Let's Go Fishing With Seniors.

“We are extremely proud of Cheryl for this prestigious appointment,” said Susan Farr, vice president of business development for Ebenezer Management Services.  “She is highly regarded for her work in the industry and at Trails of Orono and will serve as a great resource on the MBA.”

Trails of Orono is a long-term partnership between Kraus-Anderson Realty (KAR) and Ebenezer Management Services (EMS), which manages the site.  Matt Alexander, director of real estate development for KAR, says he regularly hears from residents and families about how much they appreciate Cheryl, and the work she and her team do each and every day.  “The MBA will be well served with Cheryl’s contributions,” he said.

As part of Fairview Health Services, EMS provides a full range of senior living and care options, and 60 operating entities in the Twin Cities metro and outstate Minnesota.  EMS’s long list of industry innovations includes sensor technology, intergenerational programs and geothermal energy.
