Laurie spent over twenty-five years in the defense, software duplication and computer assembly industries as an electricalengineer and specialist in Quality Systems Management before a faltering economy forced a transition.

Turning crisis into opportunity, Laurie pared down her lifestyle and cranked up her pent-up creativity. Replacing suits and pumps with jeans and sandals, Laurie took a career break to spend more time with her nine- and six-year-old children, explore green and sustainable living, and pursue a stream of weird odd jobs and quirky hobbies.

Laurie blogs about anything that strikes her fancy, from family living, local happenings, and adoption topics to green living and the pitfalls of a corporate life.
