On the article Would You Support Year-Round School in Your Town?
Jodi Olson

ReplyI would support it. Students loose so much knowledge in the summer- it would be nice to change this. Many other states and countries have year long school and it shows. I also think it would give schools and students more time to prepare for the fall testing that happens. I also feel this would be beneficial because it would allow teachers to teach either more content or allow them to go deeper into topics. There is a movement to take cursive writing out of schools. One argument is because teaching technology takes up so much time and there isn't time for both. If schools were year round this might not be an issue.

ReplyI think Bennigans would be a welcome sight to a place that is getting run down. Parking would not be good in front of the place but on the side, closer to Rainbow, there is often a lot of open space. Bennigans offers great food and specials which will encourage people to dine in Richfield.

ReplyMy son put a plastic bead in his nose! It took a lot of work with a tweezers but we did get it out and luckily didn't have to go to the ER.

On the article POLL: Are You Considering Another School District For Your Child?
Jodi Olson
9:26 am on Thursday, August 2, 2012
ReplyAbsolutely not! Despite the school boards poor decision to fund lights the RPS are still great. There are amazing teachers who are teaching our children wonderful things. There are strong committed families who care. I would never let one Internet site dictate my decision to educate my children. Test scores are simply a tiny portion of the entire picture that makes a school. Get in the schools visit them meet he staff see the kids. That is what is important. Richfield is a very small district with the benefits of a big city. The staff truly has a chance to get to know the kids which is so important. RPS are producing amazing kids... I know many that have gone on to be doctors, lawyers, missionaries, and business leaders. RPS are great.

I would love to see an art and/or music magnet school begin in Richfield. The success at STEM and RDLS shows that magnet schools are very popular and would draw even more students into Richfield. The success of these schools, along with the traditional elementary schools at Sheridan and Centennial, shows that Richfield knows what it is doing.
