Medical Examiner Releases Report on Lake Minnetonka Drowning

The body of Kennedy Maddox was found Thursday evening about one mile northeast of Big Island.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner has officially ruled Kennedy Maddox died of accidental drowning. Maddox was with four friends when he jumped off a 20-foot pleasure craft to go swimming Tuesday afternoon near Big Island and did not resurface. The group was between Big Island and Brackett's Point at the time of the accident. Divers recovered his body just over 24 hours later approximately one mile northeast of Big Island. Maddox, 20, recently graduated from Minnetonka High School. On Thursday friends and classmates gathered for a lakeside vigil in Excelsior to console each other and grieve.
