Minnetonka Cheer Team Repeats as National Champs

The Minnetonka High School varsity cheer team repeated their National Title in the Medium Varsity Non-Tumbling Division this past weekend, after being the first Minnesota team to return home with the coveted Satin Jackets in 2012.

An honor traditionally earned by strong Southern states, Minnesota broke into the National spotlight last year.  Three Minnesota Competition Cheerleading Teams captured national titles in their respective divisions during the National High School Cheerleading Competition in Orlando this weekend (Feb. 9-10), making Minnesota history. VIDEO: Minnetonka Cheer Team Wins National Competition

The Skippers are the first school from Minnesota to ever win a national championship at this competition.

The Minnetonka High School Varsity Cheer team won a national championship in the Medium Varsity Non-Tumbling Division at the UCA National High School Cheerleading Championships in Orlando. They are the first team from Minnesota to ever win a national championship at this competition. Minnetonka competed against 16 other schools in the semi-finals and were one of 11 teams to advance to the finals. The team of 16 girls is coached by Andre Brewer and will be arriving back in Minnesota Monday afternoon.
