Obituary: Sean Lionel Michael Ray

The lives of Sean Ray and Judy Reid will be celebrated in a memorial service on Saturday, March 2 in Minneapolis.

Sean Lionel Michael Ray, 49, was killed in a car crash near Barnesville on Feb. 18, which also claimed the life of his beloved partner, Judy Reid.  Sean was born in Manitou, Manitoba, Canada, in 1963 to Grayce (Cassidy) Ray and Timothy Ray. As a youngster, he moved with the family to various locations in the United States, settling in the Fargo/Moorhead area in 1970. He graduated from Fargo South High School in 1981 and attended North Dakota State University, excelling principally in his passion, soccer.  The lives of Sean Ray and Judy Reid will be celebrated in a memorial service scheduled for noon on Saturday, March 2, at Lakewood Cemetery Chapel, 3600 Hennepin Avenue South in Minneapolis, with reception to follow. Minnetonka Couple Dies in Monday Crash on I-94

Judith Reid and Sean Ray, both of Minnetonka, were killed on Interstate 94 in blizzard-like conditions. Evan Ray, a student at Minnetonka High School, remains in a Fargo hospital.

On their way to a funeral in Fargo, a man and woman from Minnetonka were killed in a crash on I-94 on Presidents' Day. Judith A. Reid and Sean L. Ray, both 49, died in the crash. (Click on their names to read their obituaries.) The family was heading to Fargo for Ray's father's funeral. Sean Ray's father, Timothy Ray, was an artist from the Fargo area. Sunday was the opening of his career retrospective at the North Dakota Museum of Art in Grand Forks. At 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Feb, 18, Reid was driving a Buick Park Avenue westbound in the left lane near Barnesville when she tried to pass between a semi and a snow plow that was working on the shoulder, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
