The most popular article on Minnetonka Patch in 2012 was not about tragedy. It was hungry people searching the web for a good steak. Ike's Food & Cocktails Opens Sept. 18 in Minnetonka was the top story of the year. After much anticipation, Ike's Food & Cocktails in Minnetonka opened Tuesday, Sept. 18. Ike's Food & Cocktails, a popular downtown Minneapolis restaurant with a location at the airport, was a new addition to Minnetonka's restaurant scene. Ike's is a short jaunt down the road from Minnetonka High School near the intersection of County Road 101 and Highway 7. Ike's is known for their burgers, ribs and steaks. A Minnetonka neighborhood got more of a show than they bargained for one late summer evening. A naked person was spotted walking down the street on James Road near the intersection of Fairview Avenue in Minnetonka at about 8 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 13. The article Juvenile Arrested After Walking Naked in a Minnetonka Neighborhood was the second most popular of the year. The person was identified as a 17-year-old male juvenile, so his name was not released. A homeowner living in the neighborhood told Patch he saw the shed clothing on the street. The boy ran from officers, and then appered to enter a home on the 12000 block of James Road. Police then followed him into the woods behind the house. The boy was eventually cuffed by Minnetonka …

Facebook and Twitter were alive with pushback on a November afternoon after a supposed "yoga pants ban" at Minnetonka High School, making the article Minnetonka High School Principal Asks For Modesty; Doesn't Ban Yoga Pants the third most popular on Minnetonka Patch in 2012. Tweets such as these were sent out by Minnetonka High School students: "They banned yoga pants at Minnetonka high school. Hahaha that's so ridculous," and "Can hear the cries of Minnetonka girls everywhere after adney banned yoga pants at the high school." However, the school district explained there was no "ban" on tight-fitting pants, instead a call for modesty. Read the email to parents from Principal Adney here.

We're counting down the most popular, inspiring, interesting and tragic stories of the year.
As part of our summer "Readers' Choice" contests, a heated debate began between two Minnetonka chiropractors, making the article Vote for the Best Chiropractor in Minnetonka! the sixth most popular on Minnetonka Patch in 2012. After taking nominations (we received four), we headed into the voting stage. Then the face-off began. It was a neck-and-neck race beween Ashley Elmer's Avalon Chiropractic and Megan Ellwanger's Chiropractic Concepts, until Avalon pulled ahead at crunch time. With 293 total votes, Avalon won 149 votes to Chiropractic Concepts' 124 votes. Congratulations to both businesses for earning such loyal customers.
