Man Sentenced to 15 Years for Driving with Loaded Pistol in Minnetonka

Michael Dennis Stanke will serve 180 months in prison on one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

On Monday in federal court, a 45-year-old career criminal was sentenced for possessing a nine-millimeter pistol. United States District Court Judge Joan N. Ericksen sentenced Michael Dennis Stanke, of Lino Lakes, to 180 months (15 years) in prison on one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm. Stanke was indicted on June 11, 2012, and pleaded guilty on Aug. 9, 2012.  In his plea agreement, Stanke admitted that on March 8, 2012, while visiting his mother at her residence, he took a nine-millimeter Norinco pistol from the house. He then stole a neighbor’s vehicle from a nearby driveway. A few hours later, Minnetonka police stopped the stolen car Stanke was driving and arrested him. Career Criminal Michael Stanke Pleads Guilty to Possessing Pistol in Minnetonka

Stanke was charged with driving drunk with a loaded handgun on the passenger seat near the intersection of County Road 101 and Highway 7 in Minnetonka.

Yesterday in federal court, a 44-year-old career criminal pleaded guilty to possessing a nine-millimeter pistol. Michael Dennis Stanke, of Lino Lakes, pleaded guilty to one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm. Stanke, who was indicted on June 11, entered his plea before United States District Court Judge Joan N. Ericksen. In his plea agreement, Stanke admitted that on March 8, 2012, he visited his mother at her residence in Avon, leaving there with a nine-millimeter pistol taken from the house. He stole a vehicle from a nearby driveway and was stopped and arrested a few hours later by Minnetonka police. Officers found the loaded gun lying on the front passenger seat. Felon Indicted In Federal Court For Loaded Handgun in Car

Michael Dennis Stanke was charged with one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm after a DUI stop in Minnetonka.

A 44-year-old career criminal was indicted in federal court this week for possessing a nine-millimeter pistol during a DUI stop in Minnetonka. Michael Dennis Stanke, of Lino Lakes, was charged with one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm. The indictment alleges that on March 8, Stanke possessed the pistol. According to a law enforcement affidavit filed in the case, Stanke was arrested in Minnetonka for DUI. Officers found the loaded gun lying on the front passenger seat. An officer in the area heard loud exhaust coming from a Geo Prizm driving eastbound on Highway 7. Police Say Man Drove Drunk With Loaded Handgun

Michael Dennis Stanke, on parole from a conviction of Assault in the First Degree, was charged with prohibited person in possession of a firearm.

A St. Paul man is charged with driving drunk with a loaded handgun on the passenger seat near the intersection of County Road 101 and Highway 7 in Minnetonka. Michael Dennis Stanke, 44, was charged with a felony, a prohibited person in possession of a firearm. Stanke is on parole from a March 8, 2000 Ramsey County conviction of Assault in the First Degree. The maximum punishment for a conviction of the newest charge is 15 years in prison and a $30,000 fine. He was also charged with misdemeanor fourth degree driving while impaired.
