Students will be issued iPads for the school year, just as they have been traditionally issued textbooks. Next year's iPad Project also includes eighth graders in Minnetonka.
Each school year, Minnetonka Schools expands its iPad Project. Currently, students in grades 9-11 are issued iPads in the place of textbooks. Next school year, the 1:1 iPad Project will be expanded to include all students in grades 8-11. Instruction with iPads in eighth grade will smooth the transition from middle school to high school, according to school officials. In addition, recent curriculum adoptions for eighth grade social studies, science and math include excellent digital resources. In the second year of the iPad Project, all ninth and tenth graders use iPads to access digital curriculum materials and student collaboration tools while also receiving individualized instruction in math, language arts, science and social studies…

A woman discovered a negative balance because of a check she didn't write in the amount of $2,142 to Apple.
Police say a 23-year-old Brooklyn Center man used a blank check from a woman's personal checking account to buy four iPads at the Ridgedale Apple Store. Jeremy Antonio Dalton, aka Jeremy Antonio McGee, faces up to 5 years in prison for a conviction of the charge of posession of stolen checks, a felony. Back in May, a woman who banked with Wells Fargo discovered she had a negative balance because of a check she didn't write in the amount of $2,142 to Apple at Ridgedale. After reporting it to police, the check was found electronically in the name on Dalton at his address in Brooklyn Center. She told police that she didn't know him. Deephaven Elementary is piloting a program that uses iPads as teaching tools.
Science teacher Karl Boberg’s fifth grade classroom at Minnetonka’s Deephaven Elementary was filled with anticipation this morning. “I’ve just seen people use one before,” said 11-year-old Eric. “I never have used one.” But at ten o’clock in the morning, it was Eric's and the rest of his classmates’ turn to use the school’s new iPads. “It’s really cool!” said Ava, 10. These new gadgets seemed to excite the adults as much as they excited the children. “It’s a fun, powerful and engaging tool!” Kelli Whiteside, the school’s media specialist, said enthusiastically. People go to jail for only a few hours to a couple of days. They don't stay there for long periods of time unless their bail is extremely high. Most of the time they get a court date or are charged later. People don't go to prison before their constitutional right to a trial. Get some education. He is not in custody because he has rights.
