Who has the best “decked” house in Minnetonka? According to users who voted in our annual Deck the House contest, this home submitted by Linda Stageberg has the best holiday lights in Minnetonka. We had tons of national entries in this year’s Deck the House contest and in our quest to find the most over-the-top holiday decorations in the country, we’ve seen everything from a life-size Santa to holiday lights so bright they could blind the neighbors. We loved showcasing everyone’s holiday spirit, but Deck the House isn’t over yet. We’re still looking for the one home so spectacularly decorated that it could be the national grand prize winner of our contest. We will choose 24 finalists from all our entries across the country. Touring local streets for brightly lit homes is a holiday tradition, and the west metro has no shortage of festive houses. Patch would like your help sharing the best displays with the community. Minnetonka residents Gene and Linda Stageberg talk about their collection and famous light display.
For over twenty years, Minnetonka residents Gene and Linda Stageberg have combined their mutual love for Christmas and created an amazing display of yuletide cheer. With over 50,ooo lights, 150 Department 56 houses, six Christmas trees, 20 Santas, and countless other decorations, their display could be a Guinness Book of Records contender- at least, for the Minnetonka area. Throughout the month of November, well before Thanksgiving, Gene and Linda pull their 40 boxes of decorations out of the dedicated storage area and begin the month-long process of decorating the inside and outside of their Minnetonka home. Decorated home moves on to final round to compete for overall contest winner and $200 gift card.
Minnetonka Patch announces that residents Linda and Gene Stageberg are the Minnetonka winners for the first annual Minnesota Patch Holiday Decorating Contest. The Stagebergs are now entered into the voting round where their home will compete against other winning homes from various Minnesota Patch towns. Voting will begin promptly at 5 p.m. on Dec. 16 and will last through Dec. 21. You may vote for your favorite house once a day. All finalist photos are attached to this article.
