ICA Food Shelf Falls Short of World Record

Local food shelf takes a shot at a Guinness World Record.

It was a valiant effort, but ICA Food Shelf fell short of setting a Guinness World Record for the largest food drive in a 24-hour period. The goal was 600,000 pounds of food. From 12 a.m. to 11:59 a.m. on Saturday, March 24, donations were brought to the Minnetonka Cub Foods after weeks of preparation, online auctions, food and cash drives. The food shelf was able to collect 398,049 pounds of food during the time period. "I think we fell short because we didn’t have enough time to really engage more Minnesota food companies," said Winona Kraft, ICA's special projects coordinator. ICA Food Shelf Attempts Guinness World Record

ICA Food Shelf is attempting to set a new Guinness World Record for the largest food drive in a 24-hour period, and you can help. The goal is 600,000 pounds of food. From 12 a.m. to 11:59 a.m. on Saturday, March 24, donations can be brought to the Minnetonka Cub Foods. There are also other ways to help.
