It was a year ago when Assistant Principal Jeff Erickson left Minnetonka to become principal at Mounds View High School. He is returning now to replace Dave Adney at MHS.
From Minnetonka schools: It was a year ago when Assistant Principal Jeff Erickson left Minnetonka to become principal at Mounds View High School—a bitter-sweet decision, leaving a school culture he had been instrumental in creating during his 20-year career at MHS. The retirement of Principal Dave Adney opened the door for Minnetonka to bring Erickson home. At their May 2 meeting, the Minnetonka School Board approved Erickson’s appointment as principal for Minnetonka High School beginning July 1, 2013. The Minnetonka High School principal talked to the newspaper about his time at the school.
Minnetonka High School Principal Dave Adney, who announced March 25, 2013 he will resign June 30, talked to the Star Tribune about his tenure at the school and being at the center of a yoga pants controversy last November: Dave Adney is still bemused over the media frenzy he inadvertently created last year when he urged parents to dissuade their daughters from wearing what he calls “high-definition pants.” ... “It morphed into this thing,” Adney said. “I suddenly became the Minnesota principal who wants to ban yoga pants. Adney has accepted a position as Executive Director with the Minnesota Association of Secondary School Principals (MASSP).
The following was released by Minnetonka Schools: With a legacy of accomplishments in student achievement and 10 years of service, Dave Adney has announced his resignation as principal at Minnetonka High School, effective June 30, 2013. Mr. Adney has accepted a position as Executive Director with the Minnesota Association of Secondary School Principals (MASSP). “Dave Adney was picked to lead our high school to greatness, and he has fulfilled our expectations. "Oppa Tonka Style" features Minnetonka High School Principal Dave Adney.
Don't get too comfortable, PSY. Sure, the Korean rapper's Gangnam Style video topped one billion views last week, setting a YouTube record. But "Oppa Tonka Style" may be on it's way to fame, nearing 600 views on YouTube. The video, which ran on the high school's morning announcments, was made before Homecoming in 2012.

Good evening. In just a few minutes the class of 2011 will receive diplomas to mark their graduation from high school. The diplomas these graduates receive represent years of hard work, commitment, dedication and achievement and will mark a turning point in the lives of these young people. Certainly the class of 2011 will be greatly missed and most of us here tonight can testify to their incredible academic achievements, passionate performances in the arts and memorable competitions in athletics. If those were the only memories we had of this class it would be enough to place them as one of the all-time finest groups of students to complete their education at MHS.
