Help Your Neighbors at Community Days of Service

The event takes place May 19 and 20. Volunteer registration is open through May 13.

Residents only have a few more days to sign up to volunteer at this year’s Community Days of Service. Community Days of Service, which takes place May 19 and 20, is an annual event organized and led by local faith communities in Minnetonka, Hopkins and St. Louis Park to help area schools, city parks and charitable community organizations. The event, now in its fourth year, attracted more than 600 people from 32 different cities last year. For 2012, organizers aim to engage more than 800 volunteers. Projects include sorting food at STEP in St. Louis Park, organizing supplies at ResourceWest in Hopkins and cleaning at Sojourners Shelter in Minnetonka. Your Community Needs You!

A group of local faith communities are hosting a two-day volunteer event this weekend.

Area faith communities are looking for 700 volunteers to join-in this year's Community Days of Service event, scheduled to take place tomorrow and Sunday. Community Days of Service is an annual event, organized and led by local faith communities, to help area schools, city parks and charitable community organizations in Minnetonka, Hopkins and St. Louis Park. Minnetonka’s Marie Levitus is one of the volunteers who will represent Bet Shalom Congregation. Since losing her job in December, she’s thrown herself into volunteer work, and she said she’s very excited about the opportunity for Synagogue and Church members to live out their faith through their service at this event.  "We want to develop relationships with our neighborhood and …
