Tenth-ranked Minnetonka boys roll to seventh straight win with a 45-point win over visiting St. Paul Academy Tuesday, winning 86-41.
With Lake Conference play two weeks away, things are about to get a whole lot tougher for the tenth-ranked Minnetonka boys basketball team. But for Tuesday night, it couldn't have been much easier as the host Skippers rolled to a 45-point win over visiting St. Paul Academy, winning 86-41. The Skippers controlled the game offensively and defensively from the opening against an out-manned Spartans squad. "I thought our guys came out with good energy," said Minnetonka head coach Tom Dasovich. The 12-0 Royals have dominated the competition this season on their quest for a third straight state championship.
Every team in every sport has off-nights, when the ball doesn’t bounce its way, the shots just don’t fall. Make no mistake – the Hopkins’ boys basketball team has had those nights. But the difference between Hopkins and most other teams is that the Royals find a way to win, even on their off-nights. As of Jan. 19, the Royals are 12-0, the only undefeated boys basketball team in the Twin Cities metro area. They have been the number-one ranked team in every Class 4A poll released by the Minnesota Basketball News this season. They are a two-time defending state champion and haven’t lost since Jan. 8, 2010, a stretch that stands at 35 games. This season, Hopkins has averaged 97.5 points per game, and allowed an average of 60.2 points per game…
