City of Minnetonka Public Works

Minnetonka's Public Works is in charge of maintaining the city's infrastructure through seven divisions: naturalMore resources and forestry, garbage and recycling, parks and trails, water and sewer utilities, streets, buildings, and fleet. Public Works consists of 60 full-time staff and 26 seasonal part-time staff. Public Works is responsible for  maintaining five community parks and 37 neighborhood parks, the city's 81-mile trail system, 10 miles of sidewalk and 253 miles of local streets. Together with Hopkins, Minnetonka Public Works manages a self-service recycling drop-off center. This center is accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week, year-round, and is located at the Minnetonka Public Works Facility.
Lake Charlotte Park & Preserve

Grab a cup of coffee at the nearby Dunn Brothers and enjoy it while you sit in Mills Park and listen to the trickling creek.

Jidana Park is a great place for hiking, boating, picnicking or bird watching. The park features walking paths, picnicMore tables, benches and a dock and canoe landing on Minnehaha Creek. The best way for visitors to get to Jidana Park is either by the trail and boardwalk (one half-mile walk) from the lower Minnetonka Community Center parking lot at 14600 Minnetonka Boulevard. On the boardwalk you will walk right through the wetland vegetation of Minnehaha Creek. 
Big Willow Park

Located between Minnetonka Boulevard and Cedar Lake Road, Big Willow Park is the smallest of Minnetonka's fiveMore community parks. The park features community athletic fields, a play area and more than two miles of trails. A 2.8-mile loop starts at the small parking lot and heads north through Big Willow Park to Cedar Lake Road, east along Cedar Lake Road to County Road 73 (Hopkins Crossroad), south to Minnetonka Boulevard, and west again along Minnetonka Boulevard back to the small parking lot.

At under three acres, Oakhaven is a moderate-size residential park. Amenities include two children's play areas, a basketball court, a mini picnic shelter with table, and concrete walkways that make the park handicap accessible.

Don't forget to pack a lunch—there are plenty of places for it, including a picnic pavilion next to the kids' play area.
Shady Oak Park and Beach

Shady Oak Park and Beach is the place to go in Minnetonka for summer fun. Open from June through August, the parkMore features a swimming beach complete with a pier, lifeguards, a concession stand and a sandy playground. Outside the gated entrance is a large picnic shelter with grills and tables.
