Located on Highway 41 just south of Highway 7, Minnetonka Middle School West serves sixth- through eighth-grade students from Chanhassen, Minnetonka, Shorewood and Woodland. The school offers a traditional curriculum, with classes in reading, writing, spelling, art, mathematics (advanced courses available), media and technology, music, physical education, science (advanced courses available), social studies, and world languages (Chinese, French, German, Spanish).

Eighty percent of Minnetonka Middle School West students are involved in at least one after-school activity, including pottery, the yearbook, student council and string ensemble. Sports teams include volleyball, cross-country running and skiing, tennis, wrestling, golf, and track.

Minnetonka Middle School West sixth-grade students participate in an overnight trip to the environmental learning center Eagle Bluff in Lanesboro, Minnesota.
