Get Ready for Detours on 394

Also: Start raking those leaves.

Minnetonka drivers will start facing delays on Interstate 394 this weekend, the Minnesota Department of Transportation announced.

The 40-day project is intended to improve the flow of traffic on westbound I-394. Starting at 10 p.m. Sunday, traffic from both direction of I-394 will be routed onto the south side of the road between Plymouth Road and Interstate 494. The rerouting will remain until the project is completed in late October.

On Monday, crews will close the Plymouth Road ramp to westbound I-394.

The project will also require the closure of the I-494 loop to westbound Highway 12 for five days and the closure of the westbound I-394 ramp to northbound I-494 for about 30 days. Details about those closures will be announced as soon as they are determined.

Signs will show detours for drivers using the I-394/494 interchange loops and Hopkins Crossroads.

Get an Early Start on Those Fall Leaves

Minnetonka’s leaf drop-off site opens Saturday. Before hauling your leaves, remember to:

  1. Bring your I.D. to verify that you’re a Minnetonka resident.
  2. Be prepared to “unbag” your leaves. The site does not accept bagged leaves.
  3. The City suggests using many layers of tarps between layers of about a foot of leaves.

The drop off site is located at the Public Works facility at 11522 Minnetonka Blvd. If you want to learn more about composting and yard waste management, contact Dean Elstad, public works, at 952-988-8430.
