Free Beer and Kids' Book Event: This Weekend in Minnetonka

Also: Last weekend of Oliver! at Minnetonka High School.

Children's Holiday Book Event 

Join four local children’s book authors at the Bookcase of Wayzata for a pre-holiday family event including story readings and book signings, four holiday ornament crafts, games and more on Sunday, Dec. 15 beginning at 2 p.m. The schedule includes: Phyllis Alsdurf (It’s Milking Time), Molly Beth Griffin (Loon Baby), Deborah Jo Larson (One Frozen Lake) and Catherine Urdahl (Polka-Dot Fixes Kindergarten). 

Free Beer at Maynard's

Get a free Minnesota (including locals Excelsior Brewing Company and Lucid) 16 oz. craft beer when you purchase any entree over $10 at Maynard's in Excelsior. One person per table must present email offer (attached to article). Valid during lunch or dinner. Not a beer drinker? Substitute a house wine, rail drink or soft drink. Offer expires 12/12/13.

Final Weekend for Oliver!

Oliver!, the Charles Dickens classic with a holiday "twist," ends this weekend at Minnetonka Theatre. Experience red-carpet treatment as one of Minnetonka Theatre’s Most Valued Patrons (MVPs). New this year, a small number of MVP seats are available for purchase for each performance. MVP packages include one or two preferred seats, reserved parking, a $25 Maynards gift card, a back-stage tour and an MVP gift bag. Great general tickets are available too for the final weekend of Oliver!

Breakdown Tip Off Classic 

Minnetonka and Hopkins boys basketball teams will play Saturday, Dec. 14 in the Boys’ Tip Off Classic at Minnetonka High School. The event features 15 boys’ games. Twenty-three of the 30 teams are ranked in Breakdown Sports’ top 15 preseason rankings, including the No. 1 team in two of the four classes.

Minnetonka, as the host school, plays Robbinsdale Cooper in the last game of the Breakdown Tip Off Classic. The game begins at 8:15 p.m. in the Minnetonka west gym. The Royals will take on Lakeville North at 5:15 p.m.


Holiday Fun at The Garden By the Woods

All ages are welcome to stop in at The Garden By The Woods (78 West 78th Street in Chanhassen) to create unique holiday cards with your own personal touch! The card making station will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14 for you to come at your leisure and stay as long as you want. Cost is $5 per person. Photos with Santa will take place from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14. Live music will add to the holiday cheer from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

MHS Art Sale

Come support students in the IB Visual Art program at a silent auction on Dec. 16. There will be original drawings, paintings, pottery and mixed media artwork to bid on. All proceeds will help students as they fundraise for an upcoming art trip to New York City. The event will take place from 5-7 p.m. in the MHS Commons.

Farewell Reception for Peg Keenan

Stop by to thank Peg Keenan for her service to Minnetonka Schools. Peg's term on the Minnetonka School Board concludes at the end of 2013. Peg has also spent countless hours as a volunteer in the District. Peg's service will be honored at the District Service Center on Dec. 19 from 4-6 p.m.
