Fall Sports Scrimmages Start Saturday
Also coming up this weekend: A Wiffle Ball tournament and a pageant.
We’ve got a Saturday in mid-August coming up, and that means one thing: the first stirrings of fall sports.
There are no less than a dozen Hopkins and Minnetonka scrimmages or matches scheduled for Saturday.

- Boys' Varsity Soccer Scrimmage: at the National Sports Center in Blaine, time not available
- Girls' Varsity Tennis Invitational: 8 a.m. vs. Roseville Area High School at the high school and Roseville Area Middle School
- Girls' JV Tennis Tournament: 8 a.m. vs. Apple Valley, Roseville Area and Prior Lake at Hopkins
- Varsity Football Scrimmage: 9 a.m. vs. Minnetonka at Minnetonka
- Varsity Volleyball Scrimmage: 9 a.m. vs. Apple Valley at Apple Valley
- JV Volleyball Scrimmage: 9 a.m. vs. Apple Valley at Apple Valley
Minnetonka
- Football 9A Scrimmage: 9 a.m. vs. Edina at Edina
- Football 10A Scrimmage: 9 a.m. vs. Chaska at Chaska
- Football Varsity Scrimmage: 9 a.m. vs. vs. Academy of Holy Angels, Chaska, Edina, Hopkins and Menomonie at Minnetonka
- Girls’ Varsity Soccer Scrimmage: 1 p.m. vs. an undetermined opponent at Minnetonka
- Boys’ JV Soccer Scrimmage: 4:30 p.m. vs. Holy Family Catholic at Minnetonka
- Boys’ Varsity Soccer Scrimmage: 4:30 p.m. vs. Holy Family Catholic at Minnetonka

Looking for something besides sports?
- Popsicle’s The Big Wiff, a fundraiser for the Miracle League of Minnesota, takes place starting at 10 a.m. Saturday at nine Miracle League locations across the state, including Bennett Family Park in Minnetonka. The championship games of the second-annual tournament take place Sunday at West Metro Miracle League field in Minnetonka. Click here for more information.
- The Miss High School, Junior High School and Collegiate America Pageant for Minnesota and Wisconsin takes place Saturday at the Hopkins Center for the Arts. Pageant winners will represent their state at the national pageant, where they will compete for a $10,000 scholarship. General admission tickets cost $25 each. Click here for more details.
