It’s Time for Hopkins’ Homecoming!

Also: Learn more about school board and city council candidates at upcoming forums.

While Minnetonka fans celebrated homecoming last week, Hopkins fans get to experience the fun this week.

The in-school festivities culminate Friday with a Pep Fest where the band will play, dance teams will perform, cheerleaders will get the crowd going and royalty will be crowned.

The Homecoming football game takes place at 6 p.m. Friday, when the Royals take on Wayzata.

The League of Women Voters of Minnetonka, Eden Prairie and Hopkins has scheduled the following candidate forums:

  • Tuesday, Sept. 24: Hopkins School Board (3 seats), at Council Chambers, Minnetonka Community Center, 14600 Minnetonka Blvd, Minnetonka, MN 55345.
  • Thursday, Sept. 26: Eden Prairie School Board  (3 seats), at Council Chambers, Eden Prairie City Hall, 8080 Mitchell Rd., Eden Prairie, MN 55344
  • Tuesday, October 1: Minnetonka School Board  (3 seats),, at Council Chambers, Minnetonka Community Center, 14600 Minnetonka Blvd, Minnetonka, MN 55345.
  • Thursday, Oct. 3: Minnetonka Municipal (Mayor and At-Large Council Seats A & B), at Council Chambers, Minnetonka Community Center, 14600 Minnetonka Blvd, Minnetonka, MN 55345.
  • Thursday, Oct. 10: Hopkins Municipal (Mayor and two Council Seats), at Council Chambers, Hopkins City Hall, 1010 1st St. S., Hopkins, MN 55343.

All forums run from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. They are free and open to the public. All questions are taken in writing from the audience. The forums will be televised live and rebroadcast on local cable. Most will also be available on streaming video.
