If you can crochet, knit, sew or buy yarn, you can join Team Yarn! Our mission is to provide the comfort of hats, scarves, shawls and afghans to people who are fighting cancer.

If you can crochet, knit, sew or buy yarn, you can join Team Yarn!

Our mission is to provide the comfort of hats, scarves, shawls and afghans to people who are fighting cancer.

This is a cause close to our hearts, as the mother of one of our founders was diagnosed with Merkel Cell Carcinoma in December 2011.  Cheryl began chemotherapy in the winter of 2012, and we quickly learned that a head without hair grows cold very fast! Cheryl was blessed to receive handmade gifts of hats and scarves from family members AND the cancer support center in her hospital to keep her warm. Each gift was received with gratitude and was deeply appreciated.

It's amazing how meaningful such a simple gift can be.

In honor of Amy’s mother, Cheryl, and the brave battle she fought, we started Team Yarn, a satellite group of Head Huggers, a national organization providing hats to people who need them. And you are invited to join us! We have extended our mission beyond hats, and we invite you to also donate scarves, shawls, afghans, or lap quilts. We would also gladly accept yarn donations.

We are in the Minneapolis area, and all items will be distributed to hospitals and local organizations to support cancer patients here in Minnesota.

The guidelines are simple. Items should be...
- Super Soft (Run the yarn across your face to test whether it is soft enough)
- Handmade
- New
- Washable
- Free of smoke and pet hair
- Wool is OK but not preferred, as it is often an irritant & allergen. Please label wool items carefully.

We meet on the 3rd Sunday of every month in the Cafe at Silverwood Park in St. Anthony, MN from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Stay the whole time and craft with us, or just drop in to donate items and yarn!
