Burwell House Ice Cream Social: Event Schedule

The Old-Fashioned Ice Cream Social will take place Saturday, June 23. Additional activities will be hosted the same day at the on the civic center grounds.

10 a.m.–3:30 p.m., Arts and Crafts Market
Browse and buy the work of local artists and crafters, including woodwork, handwork, textiles, birdhouses, garden art and more.

10:30 a.m., Mini-parade
Join this old-fashioned hometown parade, where everyone is invited to participate. Decorate your bikes, wear costumes, make your own music—anything goes! Meet at the old town hall (on the grounds of The Mills Church, across Minnetonka Boulevard from the Burwell House) and follow Minnetonka’s first fire engine to the Burwell House. All participants receive a free treat.

11 a.m.–3:30 p.m.
• Musical entertainment by the Medicine Show Band and Minnetonka Community Band
• Free self-guided tours of the Burwell House, listed on the National Register of Historic Places
• Guided walking tours of improvements to Minnetonka Mills Park, surrounding the Burwell House
• Children’s activities, including spin art offered by local art gallery Your Art’s Desire
• Display of working, antique hand-crank telephones and a telegraph machine
• Put out a fire with the Minnetonka Fire Department’s extinguisher simulator
• Walk the history maze
• Food and ice cream available to purchase. Volunteers are always needed to scoop ice cream, call 952-939-8219 if you’d like to help.

Attendees are encouraged to bike to the Ice Cream Social events. Bike racks will be available for bicyclists to secure their bikes during events at the Burwell House from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
