Wayzata, Hopkins Place High in Preseason Cross Country Rankings

The Royals and Trojans rank at the top of the Minnesota State High School League's team and individual rankings.

The Minnesota State High School League expects big things from the Wayzata and Hopkins cross country teams in the coming year.

The league put Wayzata High School’s boys’ team at No. 1 in its preseason rankings and Hopkins High School at No. 5. Wayzata was third in the 2012 state meet. Hopkins did not compete as a team.

MSHSL also ranked the following local runners individually:

  • No. 3. Joe Klecker, 11, Hopkins: Finished third in 2012
  • No. 5. Connor Olson, 11, Wayzata: Finished fifth in 2012
  • No. 12. Josh Nielsen, 12, Wayzata: Finished 21st in 2012

Wayzata’s girls’ team is also ranked No. 1 and put Trojans junior Anna French at No. 2. Wayzata was first in the 2012 state meet, and French finished second.
