Two Minnetonka Athletes Take Titles at State Track Finals

The Skippers had one person on both the girls and boys sides finish first in their respective competitions.

The 2011 Minnesota State High School League Boys and Girls Track and Field Championships came to a close Saturday, and didn't leave empty-handed in the Class AA finals. 

Senior Christian Skaret took first place in the boys 1,600-meter run, finishing his final run at 4:16:72.

On the girls' side, freshman Piper Jensen captured the first place title in the triple jump, leaping a 37-9 in the final competition. 

Overall, the boys' team finished with a team ranking of 19, while the girl's team finished 22nd overall.

Other local athletes compete at state

In the boys high jump, Minnetonka junior Jamie Crum placed 3rd, with a final jump of 6-06.

Meanwhile on the girls' side, the 4x400 meter relay team of Anne Haakenstad, Elise Byron, Maggie Carruth and Elizabeth Endy placed 7th overall with a final run of 3:56.49.

In the girls long jump, freshman Anna Benke placed 9th, leaping a 16-07.50 in the final.
