Skippers Swept By Wayzata

Minnetonka baseball, softball teams both fall to Trojans on Wednesday.

Minnetonka athletes were rueing the name of Wayzata as the Trojans got the better of the Skippers on both the baseball and softball diamonds on Wednesday—and also carded better scores on the golf links on Wednesday.

Baseball: Wayzata 6, Minnetonka 3

For the second time in three games this season, Wayzata defeated the Minnetonka baseball team, spurning the visiting Skippers by a 6-3 score.

The Skippers took a 2-0 lead in the third inning on RBI hits from Thomas Schutt and Connor Ryan, but the Trojans battled back to score twice in the home half of the frame and then add four more runs in the fifth after Minnetonka had briefly taken a 3-2 lead.

The loss dropped the Skippers to 13-4 overall and knocked the team 2.5 games off the lead in the Lake Conference with a 6-4 circuit mark.

Softball: Wayzata 10, Minnetonka 0

The Minnetonka softball team was shutout, 10-0, by Wayzata to fall to 7-11 on the spring. Individual statistics were not available. 

The Skippers close out the regular season with a home game against Minneapolis Southweston Thursday at 4:15 p.m.

Golf: Boys Third, Girls Fourth In Lake Conference championship meets

The Minnetonka boys and girls golf teams both competed in the Lake Conference championship meet at the Ridges of Sand Creek.

The Skippers boys finished third with a 302 in their competition, behind Wayzata (285) and Eden Prairie (293);  the girls took fourth with a 373, behind Eden Prairie and Wayzata (334) and Edina (348).
