Skippers Soccer Team Wins State Championship

Minnetonka beat Lakeville North 1-0 in the championship on Halloween.

The Minnetonka girls soccer team has claimed the State Championship crown.

Junior forward Ellen Mau scored on Lakeville North during the 56th minute, according to the Pioneer Press

The goal pushed Minnetonka (17-2-2) to a 1-0 victory in the Class 2A title at the Metrodome on Halloween.

After defeating St. Louis Park 6-0 in the Section 6AA semifinals, the Skippers beat Hopkins 1-0 in the finals. The team received the #3 seed in the state tournament and beat Elk River in the first round, then beat Eden Prairie 3-2 with a thrilling overtime victory.
