Skippers Netters Fall In Section Finals

Minnetonka downed, 4-3, by Eden Prairie in 2AA championship match on Tuesday.

The Minnetonka boys tennis squad's team season came to a close with a loss to Eden Prairie as the postseason marched on.

Boys Tennis: Eden Prairie 4, Skippers 3

A 4-3 loss to top-seeded Eden Prairie ended second-seeded Minnetonka's hopes of a state tournament appearance on Tuesday as the Skippers fell in the Section 2AA title match.

Joey Richards, Parker Duda and Alex Smith won their singles matches, yet the Eagles swept the doubles competitions to clinch the sectional title. 

Next up for selected Minnetonka individuals is the 2AA individual tournament, scheduled for May 17-24 at Gustavus Adolphus.

Girls Golf: Wayzata 178, Minnetonka 199

The Minnetonka girls golf team lost to Wayzata, 178-199, at Minnetonka Country Club on Tuesday. Individual results were not available.

Baseball: Skippers Fall To Third In Final Conference Standings

A 10-2 loss to Hopkins in the completion of a previously-suspended game on Tuesday dropped the Minnetonka baseball team to third place in the Lake Conference standings with a 6-6 final circuit record.

The Skippers defeated non-conference opponent Chaska, 5-0, in the other game of the team's makeshift Tuesday doubleheader and now heads into the playoffs with a 14-6 overall record.

Girls Lacrosse: Skippers Open Sectionals With Lopsided Win

The Minnetonka girls lacrosse team opened the Section 6 Tournament with a 21-6 throttling of St. Cloud on Tuesday. 

Individual results were not available. Minnetonka now hosts Chaska/Chanhassen in the sectional quarterfinals on Thursday.
