Skippers Face Tough Test At Eden Prairie

Minnetonka girls hockey plays Eden Prairie on the road Saturday.

LAST MEETING: Minnetonka defeated Eden Prairie 5-3 on the road and 5-0 at home last season.

ON THE LINE
The Skippers, who won the 2011 state title with a 29-1-1 mark, is currently ranked fourth in Class AA. They had won seven straight games before tying Edina 1-1 on the road Tuesday. Eden Prairie lost to Edina, who Minnetonka beat in the 2011 title game, in the section finals last year. The Eagles, who finished 18-8-2 last season, have been a very inconsistent team this year. They have had four two-game winning streaks, but they have also gone three or more games without a win twice.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Laura Bowman - Minnetonka forward
The junior leads the Skippers with 30 points and 17 goals. She has scored at least one point in 14 of their 18 games. Bowman had 23 goals last year for the state champions.

Charly Dahlquist– Eden Prairie forward
The freshman leads the Eagles with 17 points. She has nine goals and eight assists. Dahlquist has scored at least one point in 13 of their 18 games.

SKIPPERS WIN IF...
They can continue to get strong defensive play. The Skippers have seven shutouts this season and have gotten consistent play from their goalkeeping duo of Hannah Ehresmann and Sydney Rossman.

EAGLES WIN IF...
They can find a third scorer. Dahlquist and Josie Olson have combined for 20 of the Eagles’ 48 goals.
