Skippers Close Out April, Begin May

Minnetonka teams enter second month of spring sports season

Minnetonka High School's sports squads entered the second month of the spring campaign over the weekend, as the Skippers draw closer to the postseason.

Boys Lacrosse: Skippers 7, Eden Prairie 6

A 7-6 win at Lake Conference opponent Eden Prairie on April 28 kept the Minnetonka boys lacrosse team undefeated at 6-0 on the season.

Matthew Boyce, Teddy O'Reilly, Richard Burkhardt, Chase Fisher, Connor Gatenby and Parker Weinstock all scored for the Skippers, with Andy Homan making 16 saves in goal.

Minnetonka travels to Hopkins on Tuesday for a 7:30 p.m. matchup.

Girls Lacrosse: Skippers 15, Holy Family Catholic 13

The Minnetonka girls lacrosse team improved to 5-1 on the spring with a 15-13 non-conference defeat of visiting Holy Family Catholic on April 29.

Holly Korn netted five goals witn an assist, while Abby Brodeur scored four goals and had three assists; Alicia Ridge and Hilary Duda recorded two goals each, with Julia Dales and Ava McFarlane scoring once each.

Minnetonka plays at Hopkins at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Baseball: Skippers Up Record To 8-1

Three-straight wins last week improved the Minnetonka baseball team to 8-1 on the season.

The Skippers topped Lake rival Edina, 6-5, on April 29, then defeated O'Gorman (S. Dak.) by a 3-2 score on April 30. Individual statistics were not available.

Minnetonka travels to Eden Prairie for a 7 p.m. game on Wednesday.

Softball: Two Wins At Mankato East Tournament

The Minnetonka softball team defeated Winona and Mankato East at the Mankato East Tournament on April 29.  Individual results were not available.

The Skippers host Hopkins at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.

Boys Golf: Skippers Fall To Eden Prairie, Wayzata

The Minnetonka boys golf team fell to Lake opponents Eden Prairie (214-205) and Wayzata (209-202) on April 28 and May 2, respectively. Individual results were not available.

Results were not available for track/field, boys tennis and girls golf.
