Skippers Cagers Split With Wayzata
Minnetonka girls claim road win, while boys fall to Trojans at home.
In what's become a familiar scenario this winter, the Minnetonka varsity basketball teams split their Tuesday night matchups with Wayzata — the Skippers girls winning, the boys losing to their Lake Conference rivals.
Girls Basketball: Minnetonka 73, Wayzata 64
After eking past Class A power Braham last Friday, the Minnetonka girls basketball team returned to Lake play with a 73-64 win at Wayzata.

The Skippers trailed, 33-28, at halftime, but rallied with 45 points in the final 18 minutes to claim the nine-point victory as Katy Winge tied for the game-high in scoring with 21 points.
Minnetonka's Joanna Hedstrom and Elizabeth Zilverberg each scored 15 points apiece as the Skippers improved to 18-4 overall and 3-2 in the Lake.

Next up for coach Bart Inninger's squad is a home game against Edina at 7 p.m. Friday night.
Boys Basketball: Wayzata 74, Minnetonka 53
A difficult campaign continued for the Minnetonka boys basketball team as the Skippers fell, 74-53, to visiting Wayzata.
Minnetonka dropped to 4-18 overall and 0-4 in the Lake with the defeat; Tommy McDermott led the Skippers with 18 points while teammates Andy Jones and James Zilverberg both scored 10 points apiece.
A road trip to Edina is next up for coach Tom Dasovich's club, with a tip-off of 7 p.m. scheduled for Friday night.
