Skippers Battle Competition And Elements

Playing in wildly varying weather, Minnetonka High School teams continue spring sports season.

Doing the best that they can against wildly varying weather conditions, Minnetonka High School teams continue to compete in the early stages of their respective seasons despite Mother Nature's folly.

Boys Lacrosse: 3-0 To Open Season

Decisive victories against visiting Bloomington Jefferson and Chaska/Chanhassen on Saturday and Monday nights have boosted the Minnetonka boys lacrosse team to a 3-0 record.

The Skippers topped the Jaguars 11-2 and the Hawks 9-1 and now prepare for the Lake Conference opener at Wayzata on Thurday night at 7:30 p.m. in the lone game of the week.

Chase Fisher leads Minnetonka with six goals, with Teddy O'Reilly, Jack Denton, Stewart Usher and Parker Weinstock each notching four goals apiece over the first three games.

Girls Lacrosse: Outscoring Competition 31-8 In Two Wins

The Minnetonka girls lacrosse team is an impressive 2-0 after opening the year with wins of 18-3 and 13-4 versus Maple Grove and Minnehaha Academy, respectively.

Hilary Duda leads the Skippers with five goals and three assists, with Abbey Brodeur logging two goals and two assists.

Minnetonka travels to Wayzata for the conference opener on Thursday night at 5:30 p.m.

Baseball: Yet To Be Defeated

Heading into its Lake Conference opener at home against Eden Prairie on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., the Minnetonka baseball team holds a 3-0 record following a 7-5 road win at Burnsville last Thursday.

Individual statistics were not available. The Skippers also host Lakeville North in a non-conference battle at 4:30 p.m. Thursday night.

Softball: Sitting At .500

The Minnetonka softball team topped Eden Prairie, 2-0, on Monday to even its record at 2-2 on the year.

Individual statistics were not available. The Skippers are scheduled to travel to Stillwater on Wednesday before hosting Lakeville North on Thursday; both games are slated to start at 4:15 p.m.

Girls Golf: Fifth-place at Chaska Invitational

The Minnetonka girls golf team finished fifth with a team card of 361 at the Chaska Invitational at Dahlgreen Golf Course. Individual results were not available.
