Skipper Swimmers Take Silver as a Team at State Tournament

Minnetonka highlight: Isabel Wyer, a senior at Minnetonka, won the 200 Freestyle.

Wayzata took Minnetonka by surprise at the Class AA State Swimming Finals, beating the Minnetonka High School team by 43 points on Wednesday night. But the Skippers still prevailed to take second at state.

Team Points: Wayzata 275; 2) Minnetonka 232; 3) Edina 221; 4) Stillwater 206; 5) Chanhassen 197.

Isabel Wyer, a senior at Minnetonka, won the 200 Freestyle. She also took fourth in the 100 Freestyle. Tru Walor, a sophomore, finished eighth in the 100 Freestyle.

The Skippers took fourth in the 200 Freestyle Relay, third in the 400 Freestyle Relay and and fourth in the 200 Medley Relay.

In 1 Meter Diving, Morgan Engel (12th grade) placed sixth, Andrea Brosnahan placed ninth (tenth grade) and Annika Clinton (11th grade) placed tenth.

Anna Justinak, a Minnetonka sophomore, took ninth in the 200 IM and ninth in the 100 Breaststroke.

In the 50 Freestyle, Sophie Levy (10th grade) placed seventh and Abby Saddler (12th grade) placed eighth.

Minnetonka's Cecilia Ostergren (10th grade) placed ninth in the 100 Butterfly.

The preliminaries were Tuesday at the U of M Aquatic Center. Five individuals and all three relays advanced to the finals in the Class 2A meet.
