Minnetonka Hosts, Wins Rogness Relays

Wayzata, Orono, Edina, Mound Westonka, Delano and Monticello participated in the event.

The Minnetonka boys and girls track and field teams each won the Rogness Relay event on Wednesday at Minnetonka High School.

The Skippers’ boys squad compiled 116 points on the day, while the girls also won with 116 team points.

The event honors longtime Tonka boys and girls track coach Bob Rogness, who coached the boys from 1964-72 and the girls from 1977-98. He is a member of the Minnesota Track and Field Coaches Hall of Fame.

Minnetonka’s boys team took the top two spots in the 110 meter hurdles, and also won the boys 4x100 meter relay with a time of 43.31. 

The Skippers swept the 4x200 meter relay, with the boys winning in 1:31.13 and the girls winning at 1:46.89. Tonka also swept the 4x800 meter relay—the boys won in 8:16.39 and the girls won in 9:43.40.

The Skippers boys squad won the 1600 sprint medley in 3:42.90 and the 800 sprint medley at 1:39.17.

Minnetonka boys and girls also won the 4x400 meter relay in 3:27.52 and 4:01.15 respectively.

The girls squad won the 4x100 meter relay at 49.95 seconds and the 800 sprint medley in 1:52.96. Minnetonka girls topped the first to spots in the girls triple jump and also held the top spot in the girls pole vault.
